ABOUT ME
SHE || HER || FEMME || AFAB
Pleasure to meet you. I am Madison Mclain but I go by Pain more times than not. If the nickname seems intimidating I promise you my personality is very bright, outgoing, and friendly.
Ive been intrigued by arts and crafts since I could walk. I took a heavy interest in painting from a young age but also have experience in photography, videography, digital design, sewing, and clothing design. Recently I have explored felting, latex design, bug pinning, carpentry, and building miniature houses from the art store. I will do just about anything that involves creativity.
Originally from the midwest, I began my professional tattoo journey in 2013 with a few years of tomfoolery prior. In 2019 I made the leap to Denver, CO where I now own a private all female tattoo studio. Since 2015 I have been traveling all over the United States, and in recent years internationally to guest spot at other tattoo studios as well as working and competing at tattoo conventions. Ive been honored to add a few awards to my collection from these conventions.
I have a long background in many tattoo styles including black and gray realism, traditional, geometric, and color illustrative. Experience in these styles has helped me develop as a technically skilled tattoo artist in what I specialize in now. You will now see my portfolio consists of blackouts, heavy blackwork, abstract textures, and gradient designs in many levels of black and gray. Throughout the years my expertise of blackwork has grown more abstract and more bold as I have drawn a lot of my inspiration more and more from nature in a way that translates to skin in a legible and long lasting way.
In recent years I have been working vigorously to ensure a comfortable and safe environment to host clients of all genders, backgrounds, abilities, and ethnicities. As a woman in a male dominated field, I have learned through practice and as a client myself how important holding space for tattooing is. It is of absolute priority that my work space is welcoming, considerate, and a place you are eager to return to.
I absolutely love my career and really enjoy the relationships that I get to develop with my clients especially over the long periods of time doing large scale work. Working with people and creating intimidate experiences and friendships that will last a lifetime is one of the most rewarding parts of tattooing. I am so beyond grateful to everyone that allows tattooing to be my full time career.
